Vega Monumental Concepción
When in Concepción, do as the penquistas (inhabitants of Concepción) do! A highly recommendable touristic spot is Vega Monumental, a huge market where locals offer their fresh goods. Fish, seafood of almost all kind, fruits and vegetables that come from different parts of Chile and all South America create a typical atmosphere worth to experience.

Ramuntcho Bay
On the picturesque Peninsula of Hualpén, only about 20 minutes from the city Center of Concepción, there is Ramuntcho Bay. The area is characterized by white-sanded beaches, rocks and caves. In high season, from January to March, a swimming area is marked and watched by life guards, even though the water never reaches more than 15 degrees centigrade. ChileTuristico can include this destination in a tour through the area. Book a tour with us!

Bio Bio River
Chile´s broadest river not only offers picturesque landscapes but also forms part of Chile´s partially violent history. The river shaped the northern and natural border of the Mapuche territory for ages as the Inca Empire reached this area - Inka symbols were found upstream, close to a village called Quilacoya, just a couple of kilometers from Concepción. After the fall of the Inca Empire, the river separated the Spaniards from the Mapuche until the nineteenth century, when European settlers little by little spread out in the south of Chile. Anyways, Bio Bio is always worth a visit.
